The mission of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) is to manage fish and wildlife populations (which does not include insects).  However, they can assist in the management of fish populations and stocking questions.  Fish are primary predators of mosquitoes.  Please call VDGIF Verona office: 540-248-9360

Pond Management - provide guidance on managing ponds - how a pond is managed in reference to fish and aquatic vegetation will impact the potential of the pond to breed mosquitoes.

Other Predators - the agency should be able to provide info on attracting suitable bird predators as well as bats to help control mature mosquito numbers.

Protection of Habitat - DEQ and COE take the lead on issues such as treating public water or draining wetlands, but VDGIF works with these agencies to protect habitat.
