TIPS FOR ELIMINATING (STANDING WATER) and
POTENTIAL MOSQUITO BREEDING AREAS AROUND THE HOME
Turn over or remove all containers in your yard to
eliminate everything that will collect or hold water, resulting in standing
water.
Empty water from wading pools, wheelbarrows, potted plant
trays, buckets, boats and toys.
Dispose of cans, bottles, and plastic containers...store
in covered trashcan or sealed bag until they are recycled.
Eliminate discarded tires...drill drainage holes in tires
used for playground equipment.
Cover garbage cans...do not allow water to collect in
them.
Adjust tarps over firewood piles, grills, boats, and
swimming pools.
Re-grade drainage areas and clean out debris from ditches
to enhance positive drainage.
Clean and chlorinate swimming pools.
Clean gutters and down spouts regularly.
Eliminate standing water on flat roof.
Clean birdbaths, pet watering containers and the bottom of
potted plant holder each week...empty water out, wipe out birdbath or container
with cloth, to eliminate attached mosquito eggs, and refill with clean water.
Aerate your yard or garden pond and you may stock it with
top-water feeding fish...they will eat the mosquito larvae.
